Decentralised Semantics Working Group
For the ongoing active development of the Overlays Capture Architecture (OCA) and future Decentralised Semantics standards
Working Group Description
Decentralised Semantics is an exciting new data domain spearheaded by the Foundation to enable the structuring of unstructured data with morphologic accuracy. It is an essential underpinning of our envisioned Dynamic Data Economy (DDE) and guides tooling development for the DDE Semantic Layer (Layer 1 of the DDE Trust Infrastructure).
Having identified "data harmonisation" as the primary objective of the Semantic Layer, the Foundation has spent the last few years developing a global standard for data capture, Overlays Capture Architecture (OCA), which in terms of simplicity, accuracy, and allocation of resources, promises to significantly enhance the ability to define, manage, and use data. Furthermore, OCA introduces a comprehensive solution to support data collection, validation, transformation, and presentation requirements throughout a data lifecycle, providing critical tooling for capturing the metadata necessary to interpret and preserve the meaning of inputted data.
To further develop the new data domain of Decentralised Semantics, including the OCA standard, the Foundation created the Decentralised Semantics Working Group (DSWG) and is welcoming participation from those who are committed to the same goal.
Working Group Scope
The DSWG will create and maintain the official OCA Technical Specification, generate Source Code for open-access schemas, and create and maintain datasets and assets to benefit the OCA Ecosystem and DDE data ecosystems.
We also expect to discover further standardisation and tooling requirements for Decentralised Semantics through the Working Group.
How to Join
To ensure a proper standard development process, only members of the Working Group can participate in the routine group activities. We will share more details in the upcoming weeks on how to join. In the meantime, we invite you to our next weekly meeting (“OPEN TO ALL”) on January 25th at 17.00 CET to learn more and ask questions.
How to Support
The Working Group operates with an autonomous budget. Therefore, all earmarked donations via this page will go towards DSWG activities authorised by the working group's Steering Committee and signed off by the Human Colossus Foundation Technology Council before allocation.
